Proficiency Levels
We require to our Italian and English language learners, and particularly to the clients with previous language knowledge, to go through a very simple initial assessment process, and then we begin working with them with accuracy and to meet their goals through:
- An initial meeting in person or via phone/Skype to better understand our clients’ aspirations
- Design and implement personalized study plans through a student-centered teaching approach that focuses on meeting the learner's needs and interests and to achieve the level of proficiency established

All the Madrelingua Italiana’s Language Courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The CEFR is a guideline used to describe any single step involved in learning a foreign language in order to become efficient speaker and finally achieve mastery of that language. The CEFR sets the rules governing the recognition of proficiency as it pertains different learning contexts and provides a progressive assessment of a learner’s level of achievement at a specific time, and throughout a lifetime.
The CEFR categorizes learners into three broad divisions and six levels, as follows:
- A - Basic User
- A1 - Beginner
- A2 - Elementary
- B - Independent User
- B1 - Intermediate
- B2 - Upper Intermediate
- C - Proficient User
- C1 - Advanced
- C2 - Mastery
